Floating Leaf Pictures was formed by David Ma, Johnathan Lo, and Georgia Noe to independently produce films in their hometown of Sydney. Our first short film, Yao Yao Goes to Little Bay, was selected as a finalist for the 69th Sydney Film Festival Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films where it received an Honourable Mention by the Jury. Our second film The Dancing Girl and the Balloon Man was selected the year after at the 70th Sydney Film Fesitval where it won the
Best Live Action Australian Short Film Award.
Dave used the $7000 prize money to buy a Black Magic Camera and to waive the $2000 debt that John owed him.
Floating Leaf Pictures are currently developing two feature films and are in post-production for a few more short films.
